Addiction Solutions Considerations
Addiction solutions vary from one person to another. A program that works for one person might not be appropriate for another. Before deciding on what course of action to take regarding a person's addiction, there are some things that need to be considered.
Age
Addiction solutions are age-dependent. Firstly, the type of Addictions Counselling for a minor would be different from that of an adult and also for an elderly. It is also important to note that many drug rehab centers do not accept juveniles in their programs. The medications used and their dosage is also different depending on a person's age.
Type of substance addicted to
The medications needed to eliminate the craving for drugs are different depending on the substance that a person has been taking. The medications for the withdrawal symptoms also differ according to the substance abused.
Special requirements
Some people have special dietary requirements that need to be considered. If the person or his family decides to enroll in an in-patient or residential rehabilitation center, it is important that the facility is in advance.
Disability, diseases and/or mental condition
A person who has a disability, who is sick or who has a special mental condition may need a specific program within a specialized facility or hospital. Medical specialists on the person's condition have to be consulted to the best treatment program for the person.
Finances
Drug addiction treatments may be costly. However, there are public institutions that offer treatment programs at minimal cost. Some centers are also operated by non-profit groups, thus minimizing the financial expenses. Slots in these institutions are limited, though.
